Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), Kuwait’s premier Catholic Association held its General Body Meeting on Friday, 2nd September 2011 in ICSK (Senior), Salmiya. The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm with the opening prayer led by Mr. Melwin Monis (Auditor). Mr. Stephen Machado (President) heartily welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to all the members for their support, love and encouragement. The newly elected managing committee and support committee members were introduced to the assembly.

Various Reports were presented. Mr. Anil D’Mello (Gen. Secretary) and Mrs. Mabel Andrade (Asst. Gen. Sec) presented Minutes of last GBM and activity reports respectively. Monthi Fest 2011 programme details and Cultural and Sports activity reports were presented by Mr. Oswald D’Souza and Mr. Kiran Gonsalves respectively. Finance, Membership and Educational Fund reports were presented by Mr. Anil Fernandes, Mr. Praveen Menezes and Mr. Vijay D’Souza respectively. Mr. Rudy D’Souza put forth MEC’s opinion on help for Seminarian’s Study and changes to Mortuary Benefit to members.

Members’ children with excellent academic and extra-curricular achievements for 2010-11 felicitated with floral bouquets. Prizes were distributed to World Cup Cricket Quiz winners, World Cup Cricket quiz entry lucky winner Ms. Shanelle D’Mello, Opinion Poll entry lucky winner Mr. Monthu Furtado and lucky member of the day Mr. Denzil Gonsalves.

Eighteen new members were enrolled at the GBM. Mr. Ronald Suares and Mr. Lancelot Rodrigues were appreciated for their efforts in introducing more members to KCWA in last 4 months. Mr. Rudy D’souza proposed vote of thanks and ended the meeting with a thanksgiving prayer. The little children honoured Infant Mary by showering flowers, while the gathering sang the hymn ‘Moriyeek Hogollshiya'.
