Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) successfully celebrated the First Holy Communion Party of their member’s children on Friday May 1, 2009 at Don Bosco School Auditorium for the third consecutive year.

Apart from our motto of "providing primary education for poor children" and also as a part of community awareness to hold a community celebration of the First Holy Communion of its members' children every year, we always strive to hold various schemes and activities for the benefit of our members and their children.

Five Children participated in this community celebration. The participant children who received first holy communion were Leroy Dylon Pinto (son of Jossie and Jessie Pinto), Keith Shawn Cutinha (son of Noel Wilfred and Charlotte Cutinha) Carol D' Souza (daughter of Alban F P and Benedicta D' Souza), Ansel Philip Gonsalves (son of John Kiran and Joyline Gonsalves) and Apeksha Kashyap (daughter of Satish and Daisy Kashyap).

The program started with general welcome by compere Wilfred and Shareen followed by entry of children who received first Holy Communion to the hall with a warm welcome of confetti. After thanks-giving prayer, decorated cake was cut and was blessed by hymns.

President Rudy D’Souza welcomed the gathering and spoke regarding the KCWA idea of conducting this program. Daisy Kashyap replied the toast raised by Fr Melwyn on behalf of children and parent. KCWA felicitated the FHC children with a memento. Bishop Camillo Ballin spoke a few words on the importance of the first holy communion day.

The well-arranged party was very much entertaining with grand march, dances, songs, children and adults’ games. Joyline and Lancy Rodrigues sung some Kannada and Hindi songs which were appreciated by every one. The party came to an end with mouth-warming buffet by ‘Little India/ M & M Confectionery’ followed by masala dance to the tune of “DJ Kiran”. The programme was well compered by Wilfred, Steven Machado and Shareen.
