Kuwait Oct 23, 2009: KCWA successfully held its KCWA Cup 2009 - Volleyball and Throwball Tournament on Friday 23rd October, for the third year in succession, at Indian Community School ground, Khaitan. The tournament began at 9:00 am with a welcome & prayer led by Sunitha D’Silva. President Rudy D’Souza welcomed all the teams, sponsors and the guests. The management committee members held a symbolic inauguration of the tournament thereafter. Defending Champions Kunjal Friends and Kuwait Konkans retained the winners trophies with scintillating display of power & might throughout the tournament.

n the Volleyball tournament for men, Kunjal Friends beat Mangalore Friends by 25-20, 25-14, 23-25 & 25-14 in the finals to lift the KCWA Cup. Earlier Kunjal Friends beat Salmiya Friends B and Mangalore Friends beat Salmiya Friends A in the semi-finals.

In the Throw ball matches held for ladies, dynamic & top favorite team Kuwait Konkans emerged as champions beating Starz by 15-13, 12-15 & 15-8. Earlier Kuwait Konkans beat Agnesian Alumnae (AAK) and Starz beat Al-Rathath in the semi-finals.

The concluding ceremony was held at 4.30 pm in the presence of Chief Guests Mr. Rajan Daniel (Hon. Secretary of ICSK Board of Trustees), Mr. Vijayan Karayil (Board Member, ICSK), Mr. Francis Machado (Board Member, ICSK) and Mrs. Helen Pinto (Behbehani Car Rental), who distributed prizes & awards. Winners & Runners up teams were awarded with Trophies, medals and cash prizes. Mahesh Prabhu conducted the prize distribution ceremony.

Sports secretary Alex Rego and Tournament coordinator Naveen Mascarenhas along with KCWA Committee members wonderfully coordinated the whole event.
